Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor B***n Shah has begun serious internal talks about running in the next parliamentary election from Jhapa–5, the home constituency of CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli.

Over the weekend, Shah held a three-hour private meeting in Kathmandu with leaders of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) from Jhapa. The discussion focused on voter mood, local political conditions, and the party’s strength across the four local areas of Jhapa–5.

Although no final decision has been taken, sources say:
• Shah is considering Jhapa–5 and Kathmandu–2 as possible constituencies
• Local feedback suggests he has a strong chance of winning in Jhapa–5
• Talks also involved dissatisfied local leaders, young voters, and social media influencers
