Second Studio album
Hey fellas, have you heard the news?
You know that Annie's back in town
It won't take long, just watch and see
How the fellas lay their money down!
Such are the first words of Led Zeppelins Heartbreaker from this album.
I have a 2014 remastered copy, and I also have a US copy from either 1969 or 1973 which you can see on the last picture. I’ve tried to find out which one it is through discogs, but even though I used it’s serial number it’s still too hard to distinguish them from one another.
The album exhibited the band's evolving musical style of blues-derived material and their guitar riff-based sound. It has been described as the band's heaviest album. Six of the nine songs were written by the band, while the other three were reinterpretations of Chicago blues songs by Willie Dixon and Howlin' Wolf. One single, "Whole Lotta Love", was released outside of the UK (the band would release no UK singles during their career), and peaked as a top-ten single in over a dozen markets around the world.
Led Zeppelin II was a commercial success, and was the band's first album to reach number one on charts in the UK and the US. The album's cover designer David Juniper was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Recording Package in 1970. On 15 November 1999, the album was certified 12× Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales passing 12 million copies.

Day: 29
Artist: David Bowie
Record: Let’s Dance
Year: 1983
Genre: Dance-rock/ New Wave/ Dance-pop
Singles: 4 - «Let’s Dance» with «Cat People (putting out fire)»,
«China Girl», «Modern Love», «Without you»
15th studio album
This album was David Bowies biggest commercial success, having sold over 10,7 million copies world wide and being nominated for Album of the Year at the grammys in 1984 - losing out to Michael Jacksons «Thriller».
While the album was udoubtably a huge commercial success the critical reviews were mixed - some claiming the album was a genious take on the era in which it was released, while others brushed it off a «terribly commercial».
The album was the first David Bowie record that I listened to in it’s entirety (around 2007 or 08) it will always be great to me, and I do still think that it is a great record. Better go get my own copy of it soon!
Fun fact: The album became a stepping stone for Stevie Ray Vaughan who played guitar on several of the songs.
