The word “Qualichi”, derives from the Arawak’s name for the island Sint Maarten which means; “The Land of Brave Women”. The Ladies of Qualichi Faces celebrated International Women’s day on the 8th of March at the Holland Methodist Church, in Rotterdam. As part of the Sunday service, Qualichi Faces entertained invited guests while presenting them with a special gift and a small but warm supper after the service. One of the newest members, Emiko Bird-Lake, opened the floor with a special thanks to Pastor Keith B. Lewis and the Methodist members in welcoming the foundation in celebrating this special occasion in church. She also reminded everyone of how special women are in the world as this year the theme for International Women’s day was, “Make it happen”. Her speech was then followed by a poem by the foundation Treasurer, Veronica Lake, which was called “Arise Women of God”. After the poem the President of the Foundation, Emmielin Rombley gave a brief speech of the foundation while mentioning the many women of the past and present with great influence of our world today. Afterwards the members continued by singing, “Great is Thy Faithfulness”, a song of gratefulness for what God has done for us.
