Found this Future Music issue again while cleaning up the house today...
An old review of my entry to a Luke Slater remix competition that Future Music magazine ran back in the late '90s (or maybe very early 2000s?). The track was his classic "All Exhale" proper British techno vibes.
They gave out the multitracks/samples on the cover CD, and bedroom producers like me went wild trying to make something epic out of it.
The winning remixes sometimes ended up on the mag's CD or even got proper releases... but yeah, mine definitely wasn't one of them
I fully admit it was a bit rushed... Wish I still had a copy of what I sent in though, I would love to hear how bad it actually was for the nostalgia!
Those magazine remix contests were such a big deal back then. A real chance for unknown producers to get noticed.
Does anyone else here enter one of these Future Music comps or remember "All Exhale" getting the remix treatment?
