It is time to introduce the candidates for the 2020 FSC elections (part 5/7)!

In these posts the candidates for the upcoming elections will introduce themselves and state their motivation for becoming FSC. Of course, we cannot meet in person right now, so some candidates have included a short video to compensate. Now it's our fifth candidate's turn, Gijs Vugts.

Slogan: "Quality education, no matter the situation."

My name is Gijs and I am a second year master student in the Control and Simulation track. In my (almost) five years at this faculty, I have had the chance to explore the life as a student of Aerospace Engineering. During my time as a Faculty Council Member I would like to keep the quality of the education, as well as the studying experience as high as possible while taking every opportunity to improve the study life for the students. If elected, I can put all my effort in keeping the faculty as one of the best in Europe, even in these difficult times. This can only be achieved if the faculty is transparent about their measures and next steps, and open about what students can do.

Slogan: “A continuous improvement on education”

As students, we are lucky to have many rights. We are also lucky to have bodies like the central and faculty student councils to protect these rights. This year we worked a lot on closing the gap between the faculty and students, as there are already great initiatives going on but these might still be unknown to students. There are also a lot of new ideas regarding education, sustainability and inclusion. Did you know that next to the academic counsellors and student psychologists, we also have a diversity & inclusion officer and an LGBTQ+ confidant?
