After a year of hard work from Luuk, Sam and Jan it is time for a new generation to take over. This year Jeroen, Casper and Constantijn are looking forward to take 3Delft to a new level. Besides managing the existing business we are exited to explore new options like sharing our knowledge and form new alliances with companies in the form of exploiting our services on fairs and business events. Furthermore we want to keep up our high quality products and expend our possibilities in order to achieve great things together.

ERADICATING INSECTS WITH DRONES

Since the organic crop demand is rapidly growing, pesticides are less favorable to use against insects. A new automated solution has to take over from these pesticides. A Delft startup called PATS Drones solves this problem by using bat-like drones to automatically control insect populations.

PATS drones tackles the insect problem at its source. Their drones proactively hunt flying pest insects and eliminates them while in flight. The whole system is autonomously controlled by a base station. This base station intelligently scouts flying pest insects with a 360-degree vision system. When the target is acquired, the system sends a drone after the insect to eliminate it.

Components for this system, for example the base station, are manufactured with 3Delft by using 3D printers. A lean startup such as PATS Drones needs to rapidly prototype their innovative products and therefore fast and reliable production is crucial.
