In February we did a 2 week research about ‘Civic Engagement’ These are our advices for TU Delft:
Connecting city and student:
- Build structure and strategy for social engagement
- Encourage and recognize volunteer work among students
- Facilitate the use of campus spaces by residents
- Organize events on campus for and with the city

Civic Engagement in education:
- Integrate civic engagement structurally into education
- Establish a local project office in collaboration with the municipality and partners
- Increase the societal visibility of the university
- Link civic engagement to the broader strategic objectives of TU Delft

Widening participation:
- Institutionalize and scale up local initiatives such as WijWest
- Develop a clear vision on contextual admissions
- Make neighborhood-focused school relations structural
- Involve parents and communities
- Link widening participation to civic engagement and student development

In de laatste maand van het academisch jaar zijn we nog steeds volop bezig om onze studenten zo goed mogelijk te vertegenwoordigen. Deze maand hebben we onze laatste ‘echte’ OV en doen we ons uiterste best om al onze grote projecten af te ronden voordat de zomer begint. Daarnaast zijn we druk bezig met het opstellen van inwerkdocumenten voor de volgende fractie!

In the final month of the academic year, we are still working hard to represent our students as best we can. This month marks our last official OV meeting, and we’re doing our utmost to wrap up all major projects before summer begins. We’re also busy preparing onboarding documents for the next student council group!

Education – FIRST-YEAR EXPERIENCE & ESA RENOVATION
We recently held a focus group to understand how students experience their first bachelor year and where improvements are needed, aiming to reduce dropouts. Meanwhile, ESA is undergoing renovations, which will increase psychologist capacity.

Facilities & Sustainability – STUDENT HOUSING ACTION PLAN
We’re working on the Student Housing Action Plan with the municipality, TU Delft, and DUWO to expand student housing. Together with SOS, we criticised the shrinking private housing supply and the lack of action on it. TU Delft was called on to do more, so we’ll meet with them to discuss their role and responsibilities in this plan.

Personal Development – BURNOUT TRAININGS & GHOST STUDENTS
This month highlights student well-being. We’re running burnout prevention trainings for boards, now expanded to include dream teams and cultural/sports associations.
We’ll also address ghost students in the June 11 OV — students who are enrolled but not earning credits. While students are raising awareness, the university should step up efforts in early detection, communication, support training, and visibility.
