Michael Keaton: 5 Things You Didn't Know About the Actor

Veteran actor Michael Keaton has been a member of the entertainment industry since the 1970s, most recently garnering global attention for his 2015 Oscar-nominated leading performance in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's Birdman.

But beyond his recognition as Jack in 1983's Mr. Mom, Bruce Wayne in 1989's Batman or Betelgeuse in 1988's Beetlejuice, The Hollywood Reporter looks at five facts you probably didn't know about Keaton.

Michael Keaton was born Michael John Douglas in Coraopolis, Penn. and has six siblings: three brothers and three sisters. He opted to change his last name to Keaton (not because he liked Diane Keaton's last name, despite rumors) because there were two other actors with his birth name: "Yeah, I had to change my name because there were two other actors registered at Equity with that name. One of them is doing quite well from what I understand, the other is making cheap p**n movies," he said, according to the Golden Globes website.
