Earlier today, I participated in the commencement of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) Stakeholders Strategic Retreat, organised in partnership with the House of Representatives Committee on Finance at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

The retreat, themed "Beyond Collection: Revenue Mobilisation for Economic Growth – Building Strategies for Efficient Resource Allocation," was declared open by the Chairman of RMAFC, Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, OFR, represented by the Federal Commissioner representing Oyo State, Hon. Kolade Daniel Abimbola. The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Finance, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, also delivered remarks, emphasizing the need for stronger revenue mobilisation and efficient resource allocation to drive Nigeria's economic growth.

The retreat brings together lawmakers, policymakers, fiscal experts, government agencies, and other stakeholders to examine practical reforms in budgeting, revenue generation, public debt management, fiscal responsibility, transparency, and accountability, with a view to strengthening Nigeria's public finance architecture and promoting sustainable national development.

As a member of the House Committee on Finance, I remain committed to supporting legislative initiatives that will strengthen our fiscal framework, enhance public financial management, and deliver meaningful economic benefits to Nigerians.

Earlier yesterday, I participated in the plenary session of the House of Representatives and subsequently attended the opening ceremony of the National Assembly Open Week 2026.

The National Assembly Open Week 2026, themed "Three Years of the 10th Assembly: Advancing Transparency, Inclusion and Reform," is holding from Tuesday, July 14 to Thursday, July 16, 2026.

The epoch-making event was jointly declared open by the President of the Senate, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, GCON.

The three-day programme provides a unique platform for citizens, stakeholders, civil society organisations, development partners, and the media to engage directly with the National Assembly, review the milestones and reforms of the 10th Assembly over the past three years, and contribute to meaningful conversations on transparency, accountability, inclusion, and democratic governance.

As representatives of the Nigerian people, we remain committed to building an open, accessible, and responsive Parliament. Through initiatives such as the National Assembly Open Week, we will continue to strengthen citizen participation, promote accountability, and ensure that the legislative process remains responsive to the needs, concerns, and aspirations of all Nigerians.

I encourage members of the public to actively participate in the remaining activities of the Open Week as we collectively deepen our democracy, strengthen public trust, and foster a more transparent, inclusive, and people-centred legislature.
