Olorogun Oscar Ibru (1958–2025)

Delta mourns the passing of one of its foremost business icons, Olorogun Oscar Eyovbirere Ibru, who left this life on September 24, 2025 at the age of 67 after a brief illness.

Oscar Ibru, the eldest son of Michael Ibru — founder of the Ibru Organisation — was both a custodian and innovator for the family’s business empire. Under his chairmanship, the Ibru Organisation stood strong, continuing the legacy in shipping, oil & gas, real estate, and trade, while also making its mark through philanthropic efforts.

Educated at Igbobi College, he went on to earn a degree at Skidmore College and a master’s at Atlanta University Graduate School of Business. Upon returning to Nigeria in the early 1980s, he distinguished himself as a dynamic leader who combined business acumen with generosity.

Beyond his business roles, he was well known for his charitable work. His leadership of the Dream Child Foundation and other initiatives endeared him to many; he used his influence and resources to bring hope and support to children and vulnerable communities.

His death has been met with deep sorrow across his hometown of Agbarha-Otor (Delta State), the Urhobo nation, and Nigeria at large. Leaders, associates, and citizens alike have described his passing as a significant loss — not just of a businessman, but of a man whose life bridged commerce, community, tradition, and service.

As we reflect on his life, Oscar Ibru leaves behind a legacy of sustainable business, philanthropy, and leadership. He is survived by his family, many who will no doubt carry on his work, and by a nation whose landscape — in business, in charity, in community development — has been shaped in part by his efforts. May his soul rest in peace, and may his contributions continue to inspire those who follow.

The Department of State Services (DSS) don uncover one serious plan wey dem say na to bring plenty illegal gun enter Warri, Delta State, for the purpose of cause wahala.

Dem don arrest one British Army Major, wey be Itsekiri man, for Lagos as him dey try japa go UK. The DSS also catch some of him men for Asaba, Delta State.

Inside the operation, DSS recover:

Over 50 AK-47 rifles 🔫
6 pump-action guns
Over 3,000 bullets 🧨

The guns dem talk say na one person wey dem call “Collins” na e send the order. Dem say the main reason behind the gun matter na to scatter ground for Warri, especially because of the INEC ward and polling unit delineation wey just happen for Warri Federal Constituency.

This INEC work follow one Supreme Court ruling, and e involve the Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo communities. Even though INEC talk say the process clean and transparent, some people no gree and e cause serious tension for the area.

Reports dey fly say one traditional ruler dey under quiet investigation, but as at now, DSS never talk officially say Olu of Warri get hand for the matter.

DSS don still yan say dem no go allow anybody bring fight or tribal gbege for Delta State. Dem promise to follow the investigation well and anybody wey get hand for the matter go face the law.

Right now, all the suspects wey dem arrest dey under DSS custody, and full investigation don start.
