Unfortunately, it is very true. The use of conflict minerals, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has been a long-standing issue in the electronics industry. The minerals in question, such as cobalt, tin, tungsten, and gold, are essential components in electronic devices, including smartphones.

Reports from organizations like Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the Enough Project have documented the widespread use of child labor, forced labor, and other human rights abuses in artisanal mining in the Congo. The profits from these minerals have been linked to armed groups and have fueled conflicts in the region.

While some progress has been made in recent years, the issue remains a significant concern. Many tech companies, including smartphone manufacturers, have acknowledged the problem and have taken steps to address it, but more work needs to be done to ensure that minerals are sourced responsibly and ethically.

Who would have thought that , the maker of the tiny, cheap, single-board computers, would become a public company?
🎯 Yet, this is exactly what’s happening: Raspberry Pi priced its IPO on the London Stock Exchange on Tuesday morning at £2.80 per share, valuing it at £542 million, or $690 million at today’s exchange rate.

Shortly after that, the company’s shares jumped a nice 32% to £3.70. It means that Raspberry Pi could end up raising more than $200 million during its IPO process. 📈
