During my matriculation, my mum was struggling financially, so she couldn’t make it. She prepared oil rice with fried egg on top, bought okrika, ironed it, and gave it to my brother to bring to me. My brother even brought his only suit to wear to my matriculation, but guess what? It got burnt on the bike on his way. And the okrika he brought for me didn’t fit, so I ended up wearing my brother’s shirt.

I went back home that day, and my mum felt so sad about everything that happened and the fact that she couldn’t come because money was tight. She promised me that for my convocation, I was going to be the best dressed, buffet sef go dey.

But guess who went to her convocation alone today? You guessed right, it’s me.
And guess who didn’t get to buy the best dress or cook buffet for me? You guessed right again, my mum.
