THE DOs AND DON'Ts OF OVERTAKING

According to Zambia Police Statistics for the first quarter of 2023.
406 accidents were due to improper overtaking. When overtaking

✅ Pass the vehicle on the Right
✅Use your indicator when changing lane/use your mirrors before starting your overtaking manouver
✅ Ensure that the road is clear from a distance.
✅Only overtake when there is enough Space

❌Do not overtake when there is oncoming traffic
➿Look out for pedestrians or Cyclists
❌Do not suddenly brake after overtaking

❌Do not overtake on a bridge 🌉, curve, Hill, where there is a continuous White line
❌Do not overtake at a T junction

DRIVER OF VEHICLE BEING OVERTAKEN

❌Do not increase the speed of your vehicle until the overtaking is complete

❌Do not change the course of the vehicle so as to endanger the overtaking vehicle
