🌟 Morning from the backyard chaos! 🐐🐔🕊️
Hey family, grab your coffee because I’m about to pull you into my real-life animal documentary that’s been running in my compound every single day.
Three months ago I started raising goats, chickens, and doves… not just to “keep animals,” but to actually study them like a curious neighbor with a notebook and zero chill. What I’ve seen has me hooked — and I swear it’s changing me too.
Let me paint the picture for you:
Every dawn, the doves are the first to wake the compound with that soft, peaceful cooing. They’re so loyal — the same pair has been glued together since day one. I watched the male carefully preen his wife’s feathers this morning like he was saying “I got you.” Pure love in bird form. 🕊️
Then the chickens explode into action. There’s this one hen I call “General” — she runs the entire pecking order like a proper Yoruba mama. She decides who eats first, who gets the best dust bath spot, and trust me, nobody argues with her. I’ve been timing how long it takes her to train the new chicks… 48 hours and they already know the rules!
But the goats? Oya, these ones are the real comedians. My young buck “Trouble” has turned gate-opening into an Olympic sport. Yesterday he waited until I turned my back, used his head like a lever, and boom — whole family escaped into the garden. I spent 20 minutes chasing them while they looked at me like “What? We were just exploring!” 😂🐐
Raising them while studying their behavior is teaching me things no book ever could:
Patience (when the goats knock over your feed bucket for the 5th time)
Respect for nature’s intelligence
And how every animal has its own personality, just like us humans.
This little backyard farm in Ibadan is becoming my happy place and my classroom at the same time.
So tell me…
Have you ever raised any animals and noticed their “human” sides? Which one would you love to study — goats, chickens, or doves? Drop it in the comments! 👇
If this made you smile or you want to follow the daily drama (because trust me, there’s always a new episode), hit that ❤️ and turn on notifications. I’m dropping the next chapter very soon.
