BREAKING: Shock Court Verdict Threatens Atiku’s 2027 Ambition as ADC, Four Other Parties Face Deregistration
ABUJA — A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and four other political parties in a ruling that could send shockwaves through Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
The affected parties are the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Action Peoples Party (APP), Action Alliance (AA), Accord Party (AP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
Justice Peter Lifu delivered the judgment following a suit filed by the National Forum of Former Legislators, which argued that the parties failed to meet the constitutional requirements necessary to retain their registration.
The plaintiffs maintained that under Section 225A of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), political parties must achieve specific electoral benchmarks, including securing at least 25 percent of votes in a state during a presidential election or winning elective positions at the national, state, or local government levels.
According to the suit, the five parties performed poorly in the 2023 general elections and subsequent by-elections, failing to secure seats across major tiers of government.
The court agreed with the argument and directed INEC to remove the parties from its register.
The former lawmakers also contended that allowing the parties to remain active despite failing constitutional requirements undermines the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral system.
Beyond seeking deregistration, the plaintiffs asked the court to bar the affected parties from participating in elections, conducting campaigns, holding rallies, or organizing primaries. They also sought an order preventing INEC from recognizing the parties in any official capacity unless they fully comply with constitutional provisions.
The ruling could have major political implications, particularly for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other politicians who may be considering platforms outside the major parties ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Britain Bans Children Under 16 From Social Media
Social Media does a lot of damage to adults. People no longer know where to place the barrier between private issues and public discourses. We are literally, taking our bath on the streets, before the full view of everyone. Complete eediots have become role models to many people and family values have been seriously eroded. We may not be able to do much to correct the harm that social media does to adults, because we are in an era, where freedom seems limitless, and many genuinely intentioned attempts to save us from the harm of unrestrained freedom are met with vigorous resistance....

2027 Bombshell: Atiku Holds the Winning Card, But One Man Could Still Stop Him — Primate Ayodele
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar remains the leading contender for Nigeria’s presidency in 2027, but powerful forces could still derail his ambition if he continues to play what he described as “gentlemanly politics,” according to the Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele.
Speaking during a church service on Sunday, Ayodele declared that the presidency is currently “in Atiku’s hand,” but warned that President Bola Tinubu’s political determination and strategic influence could alter the outcome.
“The Presidency is in Atiku’s hand, but a lot of circumstances will stop him if he continues to play gentlemanly politics because Tinubu is very desperate,” the cleric said.
Ayodele further claimed that Tinubu possesses an unmatched level of political drive, adding that the president remains a formidable force ahead of the next general election.
He also raised concerns about Tinubu’s health, urging those close to the president to pay greater attention to his wellbeing.
“Tinubu must seriously work on his health for God to help him. Health-wise, Tinubu is not okay. The family needs to take care of him. Let’s leave it that way, but that’s just the fact,” he stated.
On the political landscape in Northern Nigeria, Ayodele predicted that President Tinubu may face resistance from voters in the region despite expected reconciliation efforts by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, many Northern political interests are already aligning behind Atiku ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
“The Northerners are not ready to vote for Tinubu. APC will do a lot of reconciliation to persuade the Northerners, but the Northerners are coming together to vote for Atiku,” he said.
The cleric’s latest prediction adds another layer of intrigue to the growing political calculations and alliances already taking shape ahead of the 2027 presidential race.

“Delta’s Real Crisis Exposed: 24-Hour Electricity Needed, Not More Flyovers—Otiti Declares”
Abuja — A heated debate has emerged over Delta State’s development priorities as the National President of the Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG), Comrade Akpovoke Otiti, called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to urgently focus on delivering 24-hour uninterrupted electricity rather than concentrating on flyover bridge projects.
Otiti argued that no meaningful industrial growth can take place without stable power supply, stressing that electricity remains the backbone of economic development, job creation, and investment attraction.
According to him, Delta State’s industrial ambitions will remain a dream unless the power challenge is decisively addressed.
“We cannot talk about industrialization without electricity. The first thing Delta State needs is 24-hour uninterrupted power supply. Once we achieve stable electricity, the state will naturally become attractive to investors and manufacturers,” he said.
The media executive urged the state government to temporarily shift attention and resources away from physical infrastructure projects such as flyovers and instead prioritize solving the electricity crisis.
He maintained that reliable power supply would stimulate businesses, boost entrepreneurship, and reduce dependence on government jobs and political appointments.
“If Delta State has 24-hour electricity, many people will no longer be seeking appointments. They will be engaged in productive ventures and private businesses,” Otiti stated.
He also expressed concern over what he described as the increasing dominance of commercial tricycle (Keke) operations and Point-of-Sale (POS) businesses across the state, noting that while they provide income, they do not represent true industrial development.
“Delta State is gradually becoming a hub for Keke transportation and POS industry. While these ventures support families, they cannot replace the impact of large-scale industrialization and manufacturing,” he added.
Otiti further noted that Delta State has abundant land and resources capable of supporting major industries, but warned that investors would continue to avoid the state if electricity challenges persist.
He said stable power would improve productivity, strengthen the ease of doing business, and position Delta as a major investment destination in Nigeria.
The GOMEP-NG president therefore urged the Oborevwori administration to develop a comprehensive and sustainable power strategy capable of delivering round-the-clock electricity supply across the state.
“Delta has the land, the human resources, and the strategic location required for industrial growth. What is missing is reliable electricity. Once power becomes stable, industries will emerge, jobs will be created, and the economy will transform,” he said.
