DAY 12
THROUGH THE BIBLE: PSALM 115-117
DATE: Wednesday, Wednesday 12th October 2022
TOPIC: THE BONDS ARE BROKEN
TEXT: ACTS 16:25-34
25 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed.
27 And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself.
28 But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, "Do yourself no harm, for we are all here."
29 Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas.
30 And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
31 So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."
32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house.
33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized.
34 Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household.
HYMN: OH LORD MY GOD
1. Oh Lord My God, when I in Awesome Wonder, Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made; I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Chorus: Then sings My soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art! How great Thou art! Then sings My soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
2. And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing; Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in; That on the cross, My burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away My sin.
Chorus:Then sings My soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art! How great Thou art! Then sings My soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
3. When through the woods, and forest glades I wander, And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees. When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur And hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.
Chorus:Then sings My soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art! How great Thou art! Then sings My soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
4. When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation, And take me home, what joy shall fill My heart. Then I shall bow, in humble adoration, And then proclaim, "My God, how great Thou art!"
Chorus:Then sings My soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art! How great Thou art! Then sings My soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art! How great Thou art!

DAY 4
THROUGH THE BIBLE: PSALM 91-93
DATE: Tuesday, Tuesday 4th October 2022
TOPIC: WHISPERS OF LOVE
TEXT: ROMANS 5:1-11
1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;
4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
HYMN: AMAZING GRACE
1. Amazing grace, How sweet the sound. That saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I am found, Was blind, but now I see.
2. 'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved. How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed.
3. Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come, 'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far And grace will lead me home.
4. The Lord has promised good to me. His word my hope secures; He will my shield and portion be, As long as life endures.
5. Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease. I shall possess within the veil, A life of joy and peace.
6. When we've been there ten thousand years Bright shining as the sun, We've no less days to sing God's praise Than when we've first begun.
MEMORY VERSE: ROMANS 5:8
''But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.''
During a children summer camp meeting, the guest speaker singled out among all the children, the most naughty and restless girl of about 7years old and gave her a bar of chocolate. Suddenly the girl burst into tears embracing the guest minister, her teacher asked why she was crying, she said "why was she the only one given chocolate out of all the children in camp". This reminds me of God's love towards us, even while we were sinners Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). Christ singled us out, instead of condemnation we received redemption from the path of destruction through the love of God. Sometimes we are so familiar with spectacle it doesn't move us as it should. We have to look at something lesser, be amazed, and then look back to really feel the wonder of the original. Chuck Colson told the story of a group of American prisoners of war during the Second World War, who were made to do hard labour in a prison camp. Each had a shovel and would dig all day, then come in and give an account of his tool in the evening. One evening 20 prisoners were lined up by the guard and the shovels were counted. The guard counted nineteen shovels and turned in rage on the 20 prisoners demanding to know which one did not bring his shovel back. No one responded. The guard took out his gun and said that he would shoot five men if the guilty prisoner did not step forward. After a moment of tense silence, a 19year old soldier stepped forward with his head bowed down. The guard grabbed him, took him to the side and shot him in the head, and turned to warn the others that they better be more careful than he was. When he left, the men counted the shovels and there were 20. (I John 4:9-11). The guard had miscounted and the boy had given his life for his friends. Can you imagine the emotions that must have filled their hearts as they knelt down over his body? In the five or ten seconds of silence, the boy had weighed his whole future in the balance, a future wife, an education, a new car, children, a career, fishing with his dad and he chose death so that others might live. Jesus said in John 15:13, ""Greater love has no one than this that one lay down his life for his friends." To love is to choose suffering for the sake of another. At times, we all need a little reminder of God's presence and His love for us. John 3:16, arguably the most well-known verse of the Bible, tells us: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. The only way we can reciprocate His love is to love Him in return, love our neighbours and bring the lost sheep back to Him by sacrificing our talent, time and treasure in order for us to receive our ultimate reward (everlasting life). Christ loves you so much! (Deuteronomy 7:9, Psalm 136:26).
PRAYER POINT(S):
1. Heavenly Father, thank you for your amazing love towards me and my family.
2. Lord Jesus, help me to learn to love you the more by sacrificing my time, talent and treasure in order to bring the lost souls to your kingdom.
3. Oh Lord, let every root of hatred, bitterness, malice, backbiting in me towards my fellow human being be uprooted by fire in Jesus name!
