The Nigerian dilemma.
Nigerians want Nigeria to qualify for the FIFA World Cup ahead of Benin Republic and South Africa. However, for Nigeria to qualify, it must defeat Benin, and Rwanda must defeat South Africa. If Nigeria defeats Benin and South Africa defeats Rwanda, South Africa will qualify.
If Nigeria fails to qualify, Nigerians prefer Benin to qualify rather than South Africa owing to the rivalry between Nigeria and South Africa.
The dilemma is that the two matches will be played simultaneously. How does the Nigerian team determine that South Africa will win Rwanda or lose to Rwanda so that they will decide whether to win Benin Republic or lose to them? They wouldn't want to defeat Benin only to pave the way for South Africa to qualify.
If we defeat Benin Republic and pave the way for South Africa, we stand a chance of grabbing a playoff spot though.
