Ekiti State’s Export Accelerator Program: Unlocking Opportunities for Economic Growth and Youth Empowerment.
By Olúfémi Adébáyo.
I recently concluded a two-day training and workshop on the Ekiti State Export Accelerator Program, an initiative organised by the Ekiti State Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperative, in collaboration with the Ekiti State Development and Investment Promotion Agency (EKDIPA).
This program was designed to bring together entrepreneurs from across Ekiti State, equipping them with the knowledge, tools, and guidance needed to improve the production and processing of exportable goods in line with global standards and best practices. It was not just a training exercise but a strategic economic intervention aimed at transforming local businesses into export-ready enterprises.
Impact on Ekiti State and Nigeria’s Economy
The Export Accelerator Program holds immense potential for both the Ekiti and Nigerian economies. By empowering local entrepreneurs to meet international quality benchmarks, Ekiti State is positioning itself as a competitive player in the global market.
The benefits are multifaceted:
Job Creation: By encouraging more local production and value addition, the program stimulates industries that create employment opportunities, especially for the youth.
Foreign Exchange Earnings: Increased export capacity helps Nigeria earn valuable foreign currency, reducing dependence on oil revenues.
Economic Diversification: This initiative strengthens non-oil sectors such as agriculture, agro-processing, textiles, and handicrafts, thereby broadening the state’s economic base.
Wealth Retention: By producing and processing locally, more wealth circulates within the state, boosting local economies and raising living standards.
Youth Participation: The Future of Ekiti’s Economy
The program is especially relevant for our young people. In an era where paid jobs are scarce, entrepreneurship and export readiness present a viable path to self-employment, financial independence, and innovation. The skills acquired through such programs can enable youths to turn local resources into globally competitive products, making them stakeholders in the state’s economic destiny.
A Visionary Governor at the Helm
This initiative reflects the forward-thinking leadership of His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State. Governor Oyebanji has consistently demonstrated a commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, with a focus on sustainable economic growth and youth empowerment. His support for strategic programs like the Export Accelerator aligns with his vision of building a prosperous and self-reliant Ekiti State.
It is therefore clear that continued support for his administration is critical to sustaining and expanding such impactful programs. His re-election would ensure that the foundation already laid is strengthened, allowing Ekiti to consolidate its gains and achieve greater economic milestones.
A Call to Action
To entrepreneurs across Ekiti State, especially the youths, this is a call to seize the opportunities presented by initiatives like the Export Accelerator Program. Let us move beyond being consumers to becoming creators, producers, and exporters. Our collective participation will not only transform our personal fortunes but will also drive the socio-economic growth of our beloved state and the nation at large.
Ekiti has the talent, the resources, and now, the support system. All that remains is for us to take action. Together, we can make Ekiti a hub for quality, export-ready products that proudly carry the “Made in Nigeria” label across the world.

How I wish President Bola Ahmed Tinubu could just readopt the old public servants salary (zoom the newspaper below) as he did to the national anthem.
I swear, Naija go just enter factory reset...lol 😂
O God of creation, help us put an end to this untimely death among the youths.
If our sins were responsible for this, we seek your forgiveness...put an end to our sorrows.
We don't want to cry over anyone of us anymore. Hear our humble plea O Lord.
Do not strip our community naked. For when the youths are dying, the town becomes naked. Have mercy upon us and take away our reproach, Lord Jesus we beg thee!
This is very heavy and aching to bear.
May the soul of my my beloved brother, Olukayode, find peace in Christ's bosom.
Goodbye Kay!
