Message
It takes faith to be a man, because we live in very challenging times.
We can see that the dynamics of fatherhood is changing fast.
The reality today is that so many men are running away from responsibility. And we can relate it to the fathers as well.
No doubt, men face enormous challenges, even in marriages. But every father needs to realise he must stand up and take his position.
The truth is that, a father represents so many things; a servant, a provider, a shield, and more.
As we look at the father today, many basic things are established.
In all of these discussions, it is sad that a lot of children do not have fathers to look up to. It is so different from what obtained in our society before this period; the community trained a child.
In Psalm 103:13, the scripture says: “Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.”
We understand that fathers are called to be emotionally and spiritually present in their children's lives. This helps a child grow up well.
Today, many fathers hardly have time to express their love to their children by saying "I love you." But we see how deep God’s love is shown to us daily.
I charge you all fathers, please tell your children how much you love them. Act it, not just saying it.
In Luke 15: 20-24, we read about the story of the prodigal son. When the son decided to go back to his father, he was afraid, but his father welcomed him wholeheartedly. The father did not give up on his son.
It is important for us to understand that the father's action portrayed the heart of God towards us his children.
Fathers must not shy away from their responsibility. They must initiate conversations to enable their children speak about all issues bothering their minds.
God has placed leadership positions on fathers.
Ezekiel 22:30 says “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.”
God spoke in this scripture saying he sought for a man who would stand and build that wall...the

Theme: Ability to exercise our faith
Ministering: Pastor Sola Adegborioye
Text: Romans 10:17
Message
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17,KJV).
We have talked about faith, referencing Romans 10:17. So, today, we consider the importance of listening attentively to God's word to help us build our faith.
You have to be exposed to God's word in other to do the word.
Brethren, faith is the trust we have in the character of God that we believe in.
We need to live by the principles of God's kingdom.
Faith is a response to what God has spoken to our thoughts. And the strength of our faith is in the reliability of what we know and act from God's words.
When you trust in God’s word, you never test it first. You simply embrace it.
We should know that faith does not originate from within us. Faith is God's words in response to our hearing.
Like the text explains, faith is activated by our consistent hearing of God's word.
We should also note that not every single word we hear produces faith.
To activate faith, we need the following;
*We must attend gatherings where God's word is shared.
*We must commit what we have heard to documentation and sharing.
* We can meditate on the word always.
*Commit 10-15 minutes daily to the word.
*Hearing must be accompanied by reflection and obedience.
*Hearing should evoke emotions.
After reading a passage of God's word, try to ask yourself pertinent questions.
Faith is not a private event. We should expose ourselves to the word of God repeatedly, and doing so in a group with same interest, helps.
Faith is exercised when we repent.
We should do well to reach out to people and ask how they are doing.
We can look at Peter’s experience when he exercised faith. By faith, he walked on water just as Jesus commanded him to do. However, he started sinking in the water as soon as he doubted. Our faith could dwindle when we face;
*Obstacles
- Distractions
-Busyness
- Doubt
- Fear of failure
-Cynicism
But, when in doubt, we should ask God in prayers. We should also ask a more mature Christian.
I encourage you to understand that condemnation paralyzes our faith, but grace in Christ empowers of obedience.
