Listen… prayer is powerful 🙏🏾
But even God expects you to use sense.
Before you call your Prophet or Imam to “see the house spiritually,” have you:
✅ Checked if the area floods during rainy season?
✅ Confirmed if the landlord is genuine?
✅ Asked neighbors about light and security?
✅ Verified the documents?
In Lagos house hunting, faith without due diligence is premium tears 😭
Some people will reject a good apartment because “my Prophet said no”
But they’ll collect keys to a bad one because “I had peace in my spirit” — until NEPA bill and landlord wahala show up.
Let’s be honest:

Before you leave your house with hope in your heart and transport fare in your pocket, pause. Lagos house hunting is not for the weak 😅. Here are things you MUST know 👇
1️⃣ Your budget is more than rent
Rent is just the beginning. Add: • Agency fee
• Agreement fee
• Caution
• Legal fee
• Service charge (if any)
That “₦800k rent” can quickly become ₦1.2m+. Plan wisely.
2️⃣ Location matters more than aesthetics
That fine house means nothing if: • The road floods small rain 🌧️
• No transport after 8pm
• You’ll spend 4 hours in traffic daily
Always check access roads & proximity to work.
3️⃣ Ask about LIGHT & WATER 💡🚰
Don’t be shy. • NEPA situation?
• Generator hours?
• Water source? Borehole or How many water tanks?
A beautiful house without light will humble you fast.
4️⃣ Verify the landlord & documents 🧾
Lagos is not a place to “trust vibes”. • Ask who the real landlord is
• Confirm ownership
• Avoid paying cash without receipts
If possible, go with someone who knows the system.
5️⃣ Inspect the house like a detective 🔍
Check: • Toilets & bathrooms
• Tiles & ceilings
• Windows & doors
• Leakage signs
Open taps. Flush toilets. Don’t be shy.
6️⃣ Security is non-negotiable 🚔
Ask: • Any history of theft?
• Gated estate or open street?
• Night security?
Your peace of mind matters.
7️⃣ If it’s too cheap… be careful ⚠️
Lagos real estate has a price range.
Unrealistically cheap houses usually come with: • Bad access
• Bad neighbors
• Bad surprises
