Ahead of the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) training for Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in Oyo and Kaduna States, the CLEEN Foundation team paid advocacy and coordination visits to the Oyo State Police Command Headquarters and Kaduna State Police Command Headquarters.
The visits provided an opportunity to engage police leadership, strengthen institutional collaboration, and align expectations for the forthcoming capacity-building programme. The training, supported by the Ford Foundation, is designed to enhance the capacity of DPOs to effectively prevent, respond to, and investigate cases of gender-based violence while promoting survivor-centred and rights-based policing approaches.
We remains committed to working with key stakeholders to strengthen police professionalism, improve access to justice for survivors, and advance safer communities across Nigeria.

As part of our Election Security Threat Assessment Report on the Ekiti State 2026 Governorship Election, our analysis of the election security data identified the leading threats with the potential to undermine a peaceful electoral process.
The findings show that:
Vote Buying remains the most frequently reported threat, accounting for 23% of all coded reports.
Political Thuggery follows closely at 19%, highlighting the continued role of violence and coercion in electoral competition.
Misinformation accounts for 15%, underscoring the growing impact of false narratives and information disorder on electoral integrity.
Voter Intimidation represents 13% of reported concerns, raising questions about citizens’ ability to participate freely and safely.
Ballot Snatching contributes 10%, remaining a persistent threat to credible elections.
These findings reinforce the need for coordinated action by electoral stakeholders, security agencies, political parties, civil society organisations, the media, and citizens to address both physical and information-related threats before Election Day.
A peaceful election is not accidental it is the result of proactive planning, accountability, and collective vigilance.

With support from the Ford Foundation, we are currently conducting a Specialized Command-Specific Training for Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in Kaduna and Oyo States.
The training is designed to enhance the capacity of police leadership at the divisional level to effectively prevent, respond to, and manage cases of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) through a rights-based, survivor-centred, and professional policing approach.
By equipping DPOs with practical knowledge, skills, and strategies, the programme seeks to strengthen accountability, improve service delivery, and promote safer communities for women, girls, and other vulnerable groups.
We remain committed to advancing justice sector reform, improving public safety, and supporting institutional efforts to address violence and protect human rights.

CLEEN Foundation, alongside fellow People-Centred Public Safety (PCPS) Consortium partners, paid a courtesy visit to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, to explore opportunities for deeper collaboration in advancing public safety, strengthening police-community relations, and supporting the mandate of the Nigeria Police Force.
The engagement provided an opportunity to present the Open Society Foundations-supported People-Centred Public Safety (PCPS) Project and discuss strategies for institutionalising community policing, enhancing accountability, promoting evidence-based approaches to security governance, and strengthening citizen participation in safety and security initiatives.
CLEEN Foundation expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General for his continued support of police reform efforts and reaffirmed its commitment to working with the Nigeria Police Force and other stakeholders to build a more accountable, responsive, and people-centred policing system in Nigeria.
