People get surprised when I’m buying furniture or any household item and I call SGM:

I remember when I renovated my office, and I was so excited to show her the finished look. In my mind, I did a wonderful job, only for SGM to hiss and say “everywhere pattern pattern”. I thought she was just looking for trouble, telling her how everyone who came into my office liked it. She told me “babe, they are trying to be decent and not hurt your feelings, they won’t tell you the truth”.

True to what she said, six months later, I noticed she was right.

My WhatsApp is full of pictures I send to her to pick from. Because I might like something and she won’t. To avoid back-and-forth and hearing, “I told you not to buy it, see now, it doesn’t fit the house,” I let her choose.

Funny thing is, most of what she picks ends up perfect. At first, I might not like it. Like when we changed the couch to her colour choice, it didn’t enter my eyes at first, but later I started loving it.

After 7 years of marriage, I understand women more. If you want peace as a man, leave house design for them. That way, if they make a mistake, they won’t blame you.
