Chef Dammy: My findings

Yesterday, I had one-on-one conversation with Damilola Adeparusi and my impression about her changed (positively). Thanks to Ekiti State First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, who saw the need to investigate the story around Damilola and encourage her to go back to school. That singular act by Her Excellency put the record straight.

My findings:

1. Damilola is just a 22 year old 300 level student of FUOYE.

2. Her humble parents, though from Faparusi family of Ado Ekiti are based in Ifaki Ekiti.

3. 'Spirit Word' the fellowship that pushed her out is populated by young undergraduates who are out to win souls for Christ and impact the university community.

4. The pastor they all call 'Papa' is one of them, a young, suave, charismatic undergraduate who, with his members, came out with the exercise to explore, after days of fasting and prayer.

5. Yes, they applied for GWR but innocently carried on with their plan when they didn't get the required response. This is one of the mistakes they made and they all accepted.

6. They overacted because advices were coming from different quarters and the team was following them indiscriminately.

8. Before getting to this stage, they had involved in many impactful activities in and around the campus, including an initial 40 hours cooking for students.

9. Above all, I see in Chef Dammy a decent and responsible young lady who didn't come out to cut corner or look for money.

10. At the end, it was discovered that innocent Dammy and her team (all students), just explored. Unfortunately, it was poorly communicated. It was a campus fellowship group that has taken on many tasks before but the 120 hours cooking exercise became a turning point. At the end of yesterday's engagement, the 300 level Mass Communication student was able to convince all that she wasn't desperate for fame, money or any global recognition.
