I run, yet I have no legs. I speak louder than any CEO, telling nations where to put their wealth. I am tracked daily, measured constantly, and my sentiment can make a millionaire or a pauper overnight. What am I?

Think of the market as a massive, living organism. It doesn't move just because the numbers say so; it moves because of how millions of people feel about those numbers. If enough investors panic, the market drops—that's fear taking over. If everyone feels optimistic, it climbs. Ignoring this psychological driver is one of the biggest mistakes a beginner investor can make. The numbers tell you what happened, but sentiment tells you why.

I do not believe that government intervention through a compact, regardless of whether it is a Republican or Democratic-led White House, is the most effective way to focus America’s leading colleges and universities on their teaching and research mission.
