I didn’t mean it honestly…😂😂😂
Know this, different ulcer tests for different reasons.
The most common ulcer test people run is the Blood test for H. Pylori.
This is not the ideal ulcer test after you have gone through treatment.
Join me as I simplify the different ulcer tests and their purpose.
The 3 Ulcer Tests:
1) Blood Test (Serum H.Pylori):
This one detects antibodies (your body’s response to infection)
👉🏻Meaning: you have been exposed to Helicobacter pylori before.
The issue:
📌This test cannot tell if the infection is current or past.
📌it can remain positive even after treatment because:
✅ your body still remembers the infection
✅ so antibodies can stay for: weeks to months and sometimes even longer.
👉🏻So the test may still show positive even when:
▪️the bacteria is already gone
▪️the ulcer is healing
2) Stool Test (H.pylori antigen)
This detects the actual bacteria
👉🏻Meaning: you have an active infection.
📌This one confirms if treatment worked.
👉🏻 if it is still positive, it simply means:
▪️Treatment may have failed
▪️Patient didn’t complete drugs
▪️Antibiotics resistance
3) Feacal Occult Blood test (FOB):
This detects hidden blood
👉🏻Meaning: possible bleeding in your stomach.
Note:
📌it does not detect ulcers directly.
📌it detects a possible complication of ulcers.
👉🏻So next time you say “test for ulcer”, make sure you know what you’re actually testing.
So I became a talkative. The world changed me🤣🤣
