IHE DI GI MMA by Chinyere Udoma : What Do You Think?

There has been an uproar since last week kudos to Chinyere udoma's just released song where she sings and EXPLICITLY outlines some common human struggles and asks for God's grace to overcome them.

Of a truth, several dance steps and entertaining videos have been made in line with her ANU ARU M CHORO IKWA IKO linesπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I even played the song on repeat the day she released it.🫣🫣🫣
Everybody was just shaking here and there.

I asked myself same day: Between Eze Abata and this, which moves you more? I knew it was Eze Abata immediately. Like, I didn't even pay attention to the lyrics as I couldn't connect immediately unlike her other songs. Remember, I only took note of the beat, that's all.

So, the other day, I came online to hear different takes on her lyrics. Immediately, I opened my music app to really listen to the message.

Well, well.πŸ˜„ For me, I think it's the Igbo translation of those words that make the song sound somehow.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Many takes have been flying up and down divided along this CONTROVERSIAL lyrics.

One party is of the opinion that the language she used in parts of the song are too heavy and direct for gospel music, and especially for her young audience.

The lines of debate are where she sings about what the flesh "anu arum choro" (what the body desires) and then says clearly she doesn’t want to follow those desires and instead wants God’s help to stand firm.

The other party says it is honest and real, naming what we all struggle with and asking God for help to overcome the temptations. Just like they were mentioned in the Holy Bible.

My question to those of us in this group, especially those who are divided on whether to play at home or not is simple:

Should gospel music speak plainly about the struggles people face even if that means using strong, direct language?

Or should artists choose softer, gentler words that protect children and sensitive listeners?

To the group that plays the song on repeat at home irrespective of the listeners: Is it about truth, about presentation, or both?
Let’s talk as we hear different mature opinions.
