Beyond just an event, yesterday was also a milestone we will carry with us for a long time 🧡

On June 23, 2026, as we celebrated International Widows Day, SAFIF hosted the sixth edition of the Widows Empowerment Grant under the theme, A Circle of Restoration.

Fifteen widows were empowered with ₦100,000 each, alongside gift items to support their journey toward stability and growth. But beyond the grants, what filled the room was a sense of belonging and a reminder that no one in this community walks alone.

This edition was unlike any before it. We also celebrated achieving 100 empowered widows since our inception and we welcomed all 100 beneficiaries. To have them all gathered together was a moment that words can barely do justice to.

We were honoured to welcome representatives from the office of the Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Kaduna State. The Director of the Gender Department and the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Mallam Hayyatu. Their presence affirmed that the conversation around widows’ justice, dignity, and economic empowerment is one that must reach the highest levels of society.

To every widow in that room yesterday, you are seen, you are celebrated, and this community will always be in your corner 🧡
