Breaking: Primary Election: 4 Ilorin East Apirants Step Down, Adopt Olododo As Consensus Candidate

Four aspirants cleared to participate in the Kwara State All Progressives Congress( APC) House of Representatives primary for Ilorin East and South Federal Constituency, in Ilorin East local government have adopted a former commissioner of Works, AbdulQawiy Olododo as a consensus candidate.

The decision of the aspirants to step down for Olodo followed a consultation meeting by elders and stakeholders in Ilorin East which held on Saturday in the local government .

The aspirants who stepped down for Olododo are Ambassador Tajudeen Ibraheem Olesin, former commissioner for Agriculture, Dr.Afeez Abolore , Hon Babatunde Ajadi Yakubu ( Prudent ) and Hon.Mashood Gobir .

The four aspirants pledged their full support to seeing the consensus candidate through in the on going primaries in the constituency and in the 2027 general elections .

This medium reports that nine aspirants , including the incumbent Dr.Yinka Aluko currently at the green chamber are contesting for the Ilorin East and South Federal Constituency’s ticket.

Amasa Takes Early Lead at His Ward, Oke-Weru/Yowere II, as Massive Crowd Backs Him in APC Ilorin West/Asa Primary

Alhaji Yakub Amasa Yusuf has reportedly taken an early lead in the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency seat following a strong showing from delegates and supporters in the Oke-Weru/Yowere II axis.

Party members and residents trooped out in large numbers to support the retired Customs officer during the primary election, expressing confidence in his chances of emerging as the party’s candidate for the House of Representatives seat.

Observers at the venue described the turnout in Oke-Weru/Yowere II as massive, noting that the early momentum appeared to favour Amasa over other contenders in the race, including Sagaya.

Supporters of the aspirant stated that his growing acceptance across the constituency reflects his longstanding relationship with grassroots members and his commitment to people-oriented representation.

They also expressed optimism that his emergence as the APC candidate would further strengthen the party’s chances ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The APC primary election in the constituency attracted party stakeholders, delegates and supporters from different wards across Ilorin West and Asa Local Government Areas as voting and consultations continued.
