I entered the market today thinking, Let me just buy small things and make one simple coleslaw.

Na so I reached the carrot seller.

I asked for the price.

He pointed at four tiny carrots and said, "₦500."

I looked at the carrots... looked at my cabbage... looked at my pocket... then looked back at the carrots again. 😂

The problem wasn't even the price. It was that I didn't know how many carrots would be enough to balance the cabbage I had already bought.

Should I buy four?
Should I buy eight?
Will it even be enough?

In the end, I just did what many of us do these days... I quietly looked for more money and bought more.

When he packed everything, do you know the funny part?

All those small carrots came to ₦3,000.

I must have looked surprised because he quickly said, "Madam, this one I'm giving you is even supposed to be ₦4,000. I'm just helping you."

At that point, what could I even say?

One will not eat money nah. If you want to cook, you have to buy the ingredients.

Honestly, going to the market these days is becoming a whole emotional experience.
