I recognize two of them.
I encountered these two alleged kidnappers of Prof. Ephraim during my six month incarceration at Afokang Prison, Calabar, under the administration of former Governor Ben Ayade. I do not know the third individual. However, these two were inmates at the time, held for armed robbery.
Bassey Antiha was assigned to Cell A3, Patrick Essien Etim to Cell C2, while I was in Cell E1. Within the inmate ecosystem, there were widespread and persistent rumors that Bassey, in particular, continued to coordinate kidnapping operations from within the prison, with his share of ransom proceeds delivered to him while incarcerated. This narrative was common knowledge among inmates.
During leisure activities, including drought games, Patrick frequently boasted about their criminal exploits outside prison, often in association with another inmate known as One Minute, who has since been transferred to Ikom Prison.
Based on direct exposure and observed conduct, these individuals are hardened, unrepentant criminals with no demonstrated intent to disengage from criminal activity.
