SINGLE FOLD (FOR MARRIED AND SINGLES)

TOPIC:
THE GOD TYPE OF MARRIAGE

INTRODUCTION:
And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God has taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. (Genesis 2:21-25)

FIVE FOLD PATTERN

1. One man/One woman: And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man (Genesis 2:22)

2. Leaving and Cleaving: Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh (Genesis 2:24)

There are four (4) ways of leaving
(a) Physical (location)
(b) Economic/Financial
(c) Influence, direction, counsel of parents and other members of the extended family
(d) Close friends, especially of the opposite s*x

3 Companionship: Man was alone, without a friend. And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him (Genesis 2:18)

4. Openness: Let your spouse know all about you to avoid surprises, mistrust and suspicion). And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed (Genesis 2:21-25)

There are 4 ways to be naked/open/transparent:
(a) Historically e.g past relationships, children
(b) Financially e.g debts, income, assets, obligations
(c) Physically e.g naked at home, s*xual liberty
(d) Spiritually e.g aspiration in future, personal sins

5. S*x and Reproduction: God plan is for s*x and reproduction within the context of marriage. S*x and reproduction outside the context of marriage lead to all kinds of problems – step homes, stepchildren, and s*xually transmitted diseases. READ Genesis 1:26-28
