Today, the Public Accounts Committee held a committee engagement to deliberate on a petition submitted by the BudgIT Foundation. The session focused on critical financial and accountability matters of national concern.

Key issues under investigation include the N1.4 billion intervention fund, the Auditor-General for the Federation (AuGF) 2021 report on the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP), and the alleged non-payment of Petroleum Profits Tax (PPT) by upstream companies. The Committee also examined allegations surrounding the misappropriation of N125.69 billion in unreconciled pension contributions and N20 billion TCF under the Contributory Pension Scheme.

The session also featured engagements with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Oriental Energy Resources Ltd, Olam Nigeria Ltd, Nigeria Police Force, Food Concepts & Entertainment Plc, Sumal Foods Ltd, and the Office of the Honourable Minister of State, FCT.

The Committee remains committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources in the national interest.
