The Abandoned Waterlogged Area Reborn: Solution FunCity Redefined Urban Renewal

For decades, a 12.7-hectare waterlogged area in Awka languished as a dumping ground for waste, a breeding site for diseases, and a zone impacted by encroachment. Floods ravaged the nearby environment during the rainy season, while toxic fumes from burning refuse choked residents.

Soludo saw it not as a wasteland, but as an opportunity. By the end of 2023, bulldozers had cleared the abandoned lands and it was sandfilled, and engineers began shaping the land into Africa's largest leisure and recreational hub —a destination lounge with a world-class water park, amusement park, family fun center, exquisite country club and Arena. Today, the site features world-class attention:
• Thrilling pool water slides
• Breathtaking 40-meter drop tower
• A 500-meter rollercoaster
• A captivating Ferris wheel
• Games Arcade
• Virtual reality experiences
• Two movie cinema
• A bowling alley
• Sports park facilities for tennis, basketball, and five aside football, among others.

For residents, once shameful site , has become a source of pride. Where they once avoided, they now gather to celebrate, have fun, and share their joys, -proudly taking photos and videos to post on social media.
