My dear brother, Chief Obinna Iyiegbu,
You have been one of the most admired young Igbo entrepreneurs and progressive minds of our time. Many people, especially the youth, look up to you. In different ways, you have contributed to the growth and visibility of Ndi Igbo,and that is why your voice carries weight.
However, I was surprised and disappointed to hear you say publicly that Ndi Igbo lack knowledge and that you intend to educate them.
Statements like that do not truly reflect the history or reality of our people. For decades, Ndi Igbo have been among the most active, hardworking, and intellectually vibrant contributors to the growth of Nigeria.
Great personalities such as Nnamdi Azikiwe, Akanu Ibiam, Philip Emeagwali, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Kingsley Moghalu, Barth Nnaji, and Enyinnaya Abaribe, Charles Soludo,among many others, have shown through their achievements that Ndi Igbo are far from lacking knowledge.
That is why many people are wondering where this perception is coming from.
You are greatly loved by Ndi Igbo, and that love was built over time through your success and connection with the people. Because of that, many expected that any platform you lead or support would be used to promote the interests and unity of our people.
While you may support the “City Boy” political movement and the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, it is also important to remember that Ndi Igbo have faced many years of political marginalization and limited inclusion at the national level.
What many people expect from someone with your influence is that you use your voice to advocate for fairness, inclusion, and respect for our people,not to create the impression that Ndi Igbo lack political awareness or knowledge.
Kindly use the platform and influence you have to speak for Ndi Igbo and promote unity, fairness, and inclusion. That is the expectation of many who respect and support you.
