Some movies are more than entertainment — they are mirrors of real life. That’s why “Monica Part 1 & 2” hit so deeply for many people. Behind the tears and emotions is the painful reality of countless firstborns in African homes, especially in Nigeria.

Many firstborn children never truly get to live their own lives. From a young age, they are forced to become “second parents,” carrying responsibilities their parents should have handled. Their dreams are delayed, their happiness sacrificed, and their struggles ignored — all because they were born first.

Being born into a poor family is not a crime. No child chooses the home they come from. It’s heartbreaking when the burden of an entire family is placed on one child simply because they are the eldest.

Dear African parents, please have the number of children you can comfortably care for. A child should grow with love, support, and opportunity — not with the fear of becoming the family’s sacrifice.

Some firstborns are silently suffering behind the smiles. And sadly, many people only notice when it’s already too late.
