PUBLIC NOTICE

This is to remind the general public that the people of Ishinkwo community in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have continued to cry out over the maltreatment and injustice we are experiencing from our state government through the influence of our Local Government Chairman Hon Hon Ogboffia Ikechukwu.

For a long time, Ishinkwo has been in crisis with our neighbouring community, Abaomege. When Francis Nwifuru became the Governor of Ebonyi State, we believed that justice and a lasting solution would finally come. The government earlier directed that the demarcation of the disputed land between Ishinkwo and Abaomege should be carried out using the official White Paper. Unfortunately, the Local Government Chairman has ignored this directive and instead introduced his own methods, which we believe are biased and unfair.

Since the crisis began, the people of Abaomege disconnected Ishinkwo from electricity, yet no meaningful action has been taken by the Chairman to address this hardship. Even more troubling is that some of our young men were arrested about one year and three months ago without just cause, and they are still being kept in detention.

It is painful that the government often waits until there is bloodshed before showing concern. We are raising our voices now to prevent further crisis and suffering in our community.

We therefore appeal to the general public, human rights organizations, and well-meaning Nigerians to hear our cry and help call the attention of the government to this injustice. Our youths are suffering in detention, and our community continues to live under hardship and fear.
Justice, fairness, and peace are what we seek.
