In 1996, Lighthouse Rescue Sports Outreach (LRSO) was founded by a young man in Jos, and it began as a volunteer group of youths and students committed to merge sportsmanship and athletic abilities to God’s glory.

Key Activities and Initiatives
Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion: LRSO facilitates "Sports for Development" (S4D) projects, such as the PEACECORE II initiative in 2025. These programs aim to promote unity and transform conflict in vulnerable regions like Taraba, Plateau, and Kaduna States.
Coaching Excellence: In partnership with the US-based 3D Institute, LRSO provides 3D Coaching training. This m**hod focuses on training coaches to mentor athletes across three dimensions: the physical (skills), the mind (psychology), and the heart (emotional/spiritual).
Sports Evangelism: The organization conducts training for individuals interested in sports ministry, focusing on discipleship and using athletic platforms for religious outreach.
Youth Empowerment: Led by President Geoffrey Bottson, LRSO supports youth across various disciplines, including football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, and martial arts, to foster development and decision-making roles in their communities.
