A Cesarean section (C-section) is a surgical procedure used to deliver a baby through incisions made in the mother’s abdomen and uterus, usually when a vaginal birth may pose risks to the mother or baby.
It is not a “lesser” birth—it is a lifesaving medical procedure that protects mothers and newborns in complications such as prolonged labour, fetal distress, placenta issues, or obstructed delivery.
Recovery after a C-section takes time. The body is healing from major surgery, so rest, proper nutrition, wound care, and gentle movement are important in the first weeks. Pain, swelling, and fatigue are normal, but should gradually improve with care and support.
Every birth story is unique. Whether vaginal or surgical, what matters most is a safe delivery and a healthy mother and baby.
