: Ekiti State Vitamin A Supplementation Campaign

➕️ Effective and long-lasting delivery system for vitamin A supplementation is offered during routine immunisation. Research indicates that administering vitamin A supplements concurrently with vaccination is safe and does not affect the seroconversion of paediatric vaccinations.

➖️ Numerous age groups of children at risk of vitamin A deficiency have benefitted from the safe and effective utilisation of routine immunisation services and vaccination programs.

➕️ Less than 10% of children who receive supplements may have moderate symptoms of intolerance, such as loose stools, headaches, fever, and irritability, when the appropriate age-appropriate dose of vitamin A is administered along with vaccinations. Without extra care, these side effects go away in 24 to 48 hours.

➖️ Children who are ill are also treated with vitamin A pills. As part of the integrated care of childhood illness, the WHO recommends vitamin A supplementation as a treatment for measles cases, which has a solid scientific foundation, in addition to treating malnutrition.

➕️ Vitamin A supplementation is taking place in Ekiti State from Saturday 3rd of May to Thursday 8th of May 2025. It is being implemented by the Department of Nutrition, Ekiti State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, spearheaded by the State Nutrition Officer, Dr. Bolanle Victoria, O. RDN, PhD .
