Today Amnesty International Nigeria held a press conference and campaign action to mark six years since the abudction of Abubakar Idris (Dadiyata) by gunmen in Kaduna, on 2 August 2019.
In attendance are his wife Khadijah and his children, his brothers, sisters and extended family member.
Amnesty International urges President Bola Tinubu to break the silence and direct a full, independent inand transparent vestigation into the case, noting that the Buhari administration failed woefully in that regard.
Dadiyata was popular on social media for criticising the government until masked gunmen abducted him in Kaduna on August 2, 2019.
Dadiyata’s case has become symbolic of Nigeria’s deteriorating human rights landscape, marked by impunity, shrinking civic space, and a deepening culture of silence.
