Furthermore, we must question the effectiveness of previous investigations and demand a clear plan of action to guarantee that the recent promises made by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) will yield the required result.

The recent accidental bombing in a village, for which the Nigerian Army has taken responsibility, is yet another distressing example of the recurring tragedy. Lives were lost, families shattered, and a community torn apart. While the COAS, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has issued an apology to the victims' relatives, words alone cannot heal the wounds or bring back the deceased. It is time for substantial accountability and justice.

The incident at the Niger-Benue border stands as a stark reminder of the grave consequences of these accidental airstrikes. 37 individuals, including innocent pastoralists, lost their lives due to a bomb explosion.
