Quantus Medical Foundation Donates Essential Facilities to Enhance Patient’s Experience at ABSUTH May 6th, 2026.
The patient care environment at Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) has received a significant boost following a strategic donation from the Quantus Medical Foundation. Realized through the Abia Rebirth Initiative under the visionary leadership of our health-friendly Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR), and coordinated by the Health , Prof. Enoch Ogbonnaya Uche, this intervention is a practical step toward redefining healthcare standards in our state. To maximize the impact of these resources, our Patient Liaison Officers (PLOs) remain stationed throughout the hospital, ensuring a seamless and professional experience for every visitor.
The donation, formally presented by Mr. Uzoma Onyeka (PLO Manager for Abia and Enugu), features new sets of comfortable waiting area chairs, disposable bio-safety boxes, and a complete waste management suite including refuse bins and nylons.
These facilities are to be stationed specifically at the Casualty Unit to streamline emergency response and immediate patient comfort. To maintain our new standards of operational excellence, these items are dedicated to this high-traffic area and are not to be removed or redeployed, ensuring that our emergency services remain fully equipped at all times.
This initiative is a testament to how ABSUTH is strategically positioning itself as a leader in medical excellence, adopting the structural discipline necessary to compete with top-tier institutions. We are committed to this trajectory of growth, and we promise our community that the quality of patient care is steadily rising toward its peak.

In a busy city like Aba, our hands are constantly in motion, navigating the bustle of the market, handling cash, or greeting neighbors. It is easy to overlook that these same hands are the primary gateway for germs to travel from the environment into our bodies.
Today, May 5th, 2026, we join the global community in celebrating World Hand Hygiene Day, reminding everyone that maintaining clean hands is not a complex medical ritual, but a powerful way to take control of your health and protect your family from infections.
The most impactful action you can take is to make handwashing a non-negotiable part of your daily "transition" moments.
This means washing your hands immediately when you return home from work, before you share a meal, and after using the restroom. Use running water and any soap available to you. It is more than just a quick splash; take those extra seconds to scrub your palms and the backs of your hands until you have a thick lather, as that friction is what truly lifts the dirt and germs
Wash your hands regularly

Today, May 5th, 2026, we stand with the rest of the world to celebrate the International Day of the Midwife. At ABSUTH, this celebration is deeply personal because we don't just participate in healthcare; we lead it from the front lines. Our midwives are the heartbeat of our maternity services, serving as the first line of defense for both mother and child while working tirelessly to reduce maternal and infant mortality through clinical excellence. With a legacy of training that traces back to our historic School of Midwifery, we are proud to continue exporting excellence and providing the skilled hands that deliver the future of our nation.
This year, we are aligning our mission with the global theme, One Million More Midwives. At ABSUTH, we recognize that achieving a global impact requires us to empower our midwives with modern equipment and lead the way in medical education. By producing highly skilled professionals and providing technical support to primary healthcare facilities across the region, we are ensuring that every woman in Abia State and beyond has access to the professional care she deserves.
As we celebrate these heroes today, we urge every expectant mother in our community to trust the hands of science. A trained midwife is a clinical expert who plays a vital role in ensuring a safe pregnancy and delivery. Early registration and regular antenatal visits are the most effective ways to protect yourself and your baby.
Register for your antenatal care at the ABSUTH Obstetrics and Gynecology Department today to ensure the best possible start for your little one.

Impact in Action at ABSUTH!
The momentum for Global Health Week 2026 is only getting stronger! Yesterday at the Abia State University Teaching Hospital, our Health Information Management (HIM) professionals took center stage to sensitize the general public on the power of data in saving lives.
We believe that a well-informed patient is a safer patient. Our team spent the day engaging with visitors and patients, breaking down how effective record-keeping and data management directly lead to faster, more accurate, and higher-quality healthcare for everyone.
It wasn’t just about the talk, it was about the connection! To show our appreciation and keep the community engaged, we:
❇️Sensitized the publics on their rights regarding health information.
❇️Shared gifts to remember the day.
❇️Educated families on why accurate health records matter for their future care.
Our theme remains our driving force: “Promoting quality healthcare through effective health information management." When we manage data correctly, we manage lives better.
A huge shoutout to the dedicated HIM team and the ABSUTH community for making yesterday’s outreach so impactful. Together, we are setting a new standard for healthcare excellence in Abia State!
