I didn’t win tonight. And honestly, that’s okay and that's not the point.

I arrived in LA alone, not knowing what to expect. But from the moment I stepped in, people were open, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. Even before the event started, the energy already felt warm.

During the night, I gathered the courage to walk up to strangers. I talked about their tie, their colorful suits, say hello, and start conversations. And they started to talk about my batik shirt and my chameleon pin and my nominee lapel pin. And every time, I was met with kindness, encouragement, and support.

People celebrated what I do, and even the simple story of me coming all the way here after a long journey.

I sat with strangers who quickly became friends, shared a table with fellow nominees, and later met someone I’ve worked with online for the first time in real life. I also found myself walking up to winners just to congratulate them. Every interaction felt natural and genuine.

Tonight reminded me not to overthink things. Sometimes, all it takes is a real smile and a simple “hello.”

I may not have taken home an award, but I walked away feeling seen, heard, and deeply grateful.

I feel happy.
