“A partir de una firme, pesimista y consistente postura de mi padre durante mi juventud universitaria, sintetizada así:

‘No importa qué partido o institución gubernamental sea; todo el gobierno está infiltrado por políticos o funcionarios públicos parásitos, supersticiosos, mentirosos, hipócritas, lambiscones, cobardes, delincuentes, manipuladores, corruptos y criminales; incluso entre quiénes deben asegurar la seguridad y justicia a la Nación. Todo el gobierno está podrido’;

yo gustaba debatir optimistamente contra eso, desplegando toda esa gama de argumentos aprendidos de materias y doctrinas pletóricas de tecnicismos vanguardistas, propios de una universidad prestigiosa a la que mis padres me inscribieron, a fin de asegurar una educación de ‘alto valor’ para mí.

Es determinante señalar que dicha postura él la basaba en su propia sabiduría y experiencia, y en una época en que no había Internet, ni redes sociales. Aún así, al final de mi despliegue argumental, todo terminaba en un condescendiente silencio de mi padre, acompañado de una mueca discreta, fruto de una sonrisa reprimida, procurando no herir la susceptibilidad de mi entusiasta inocencia.

Durante mi trayectoria empresarial, paulatinamente empecé a descubrir que mi padre, tenía razón; de hecho, ellos eran mucho peores. Además, esa lección aguzó mi escepticismo y desconfianza, previniendo con ello hacer negocios riesgosos, indecorosos y o ilegales, estrechando con ello oportunidades factibles.

En éste, mi sexagésimo aniversario existencial, extraño que mi pilar educativo y, junto a mi madre, dadores de vida; no haya vivido lo suficiente, para corroborar personalmente qué, por fin, todas esas pesimistas o realistas evidencias que antes yo le solicitaba, ahora están brotando a borbotones por y en todos lados, y con una contundencia irrefutable.

En esta adversa realidad global que, ahora se desvela fácilmente con el flujo de información en tiempo real; agradezco a él plenamente su advertencia patriarcal que, me ha facilitado entender el ‘qué, cómo y por qué’ de esta engañosa y putrefacta realidad, para lidiar emocional, física e intelectualmente en mi hoy, conmemorando un año más de mi esperanzadora y afortunada existencia.

¡Gracias papá! Y a todos los que se han tomado el tiempo de felicitarme y desearme benéficos anhelos, ¡también muchas gracias!”

'It doesn't matter which party or government institution it is; the entire government is infiltrated by parasites, superstitious, liars, hypocrites, sycophants, cowards, delinquents, manipulators, corrupts and criminals politicians or public officials; even those who are supposed to ensure the nation's security and justice. The entire government is rotten’;

I liked to debate optimistically against this, deploying a whole range of arguments learned from subjects and doctrines replete with cutting-edge technicalities, typical of a prestigious university my parents enrolled me in, in order to ensure a high-value education for me.

It is decisive that he based this position on his own wisdom and experience, and in an era before the internet or social media. Even so, at the end of my argumentative presentation, it all ended in a condescending silence from my father, accompanied by a discreet grimace, the result of a suppressed smile, trying not to offend the susceptibility of my enthusiastic innocence.

During my entrepreneurial career, I gradually began to discover that my father was right; in fact, they were much worse. Furthermore, that lesson sharpened my skepticism and distrust, thereby preventing me from engaging in risky, unseemly, and/or illegal business dealings, thereby narrowing down feasible opportunities.

On this, my sixtieth existential anniversary, I miss that my educational pillar and, along with my mother, givers of life, hasn't lived long enough to personally corroborate that, finally, all that pessimistic or realistic evidence I once sought from him is now gushing forth from all sides, with irrefutable forcefulness.

In this adverse global reality, now easily revealed by the flow of information in real time, I am fully grateful to him for his patriarchal warning, which has made it easier for me to understand the ‘what, how, and why’ of this deceptive and rotten reality, to cope emotionally, physically, and intellectually today, commemorating another year of my hopeful and fortunate existence.

Thank you, Dad! And to everyone who has taken the time to congratulate me and wish me well, thank you very much too!
