KOSMICA Institute is a space organisation that aims to establish a platform for critical, cultural, and poetic discussions about our relationship with the Universe, space activities, and their impact on Earth. Through festivals, educational programmes and projects, it has collaborated with over 180 artists, cultural practitioners, scientists, astronauts and other space explorers. KOSMICA has ongoing activities in Germany, UK, Mexico, Canada and France.

Not all astronauts experience the Overview Effect. Some return unchanged. Some describe it in passing. Some do not mention it at all.
So when we celebrate those who do, we should ask: what conditions make that shift possible? And why is the solution to send more people to space, when many knowledge systems have articulated this same feeling for centuries without leaving the ground?

A sculpture was carried into the stratosphere by a high-altitude balloon, where it interacts with light, air, and altitude. Suspended at the edge of space.
Titled The Dorothy Project, the work investigates how sculpture can be placed, seen, and understood within the upper layers of Earth’s atmosphere.
