We join in hand by MSDTF to convey our deepest pain for all Hindus being brutally murdered in Bangladesh. We also stand by the bereave parivaar members. Sanatanists will rise above to condemn all minorities in Bangkadesh. Also we highlight that many Bangladeshis are in minorities in many countries around the world.

Is this the direction we want Mauritius to take?

The Cabinet has reportedly approved a $6 million donation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Islamic Cultural Centre Trust Fund, through an MoU with the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

This may seem like cultural cooperation on the surface but it raises serious questions about transparency, equality, and national identity.

1- Why is foreign religious funding being accepted without any public explanation of how the money will be used?

2- What safeguards are in place to prevent external ideological influence, especially from a country known for exporting conservative religious doctrine?

3- How does this align with Mauritius’ values of secularism and religious balance?

4- Are other cultural or religious communities being offered equivalent support?

Mauritius has long been proud of its peaceful coexistence and multicultural harmony. But decisions like this made quietly at Cabinet level risk unsettling that balance.

This isn’t about any one religion. It’s about protecting our national integrity, ensuring fairness, and demanding accountability from those in power.

When public money, foreign influence, and religion mix the public has every right to ask questions.

Furthermore, Saudi Arabia is known for exporting ultraconservative religious ideologies (such as Wahhabism). By welcoming such a large religious donation, we risk opening the door to external agendas that may not align with our values of moderation and peaceful coexistence.
