There was a blowing wind
not of canvas, but of place !
Exile has its own pigments,
just like Joseph’s mantle was multicoloured.
I found hues where none existed,
created my colours in stillness,
beneath the branches of a tree I didn’t plant.

My leaves were torn from my hands,
control stripped !
but I kept my brushes in water,
waiting for a sprout.
My name is Sprout

Ghosts in suits may pass me by,
but they can’t carry
what now rests in me
silence & gold
and the scent of love , paint and peace.

I bloom again,
with leaves of a new season.
I no longer mourn the pain
the altar moved with me,
and within me .
My name is sprout 🌱
