Exhibition Vision:
Covid-19 was a disruption, and as design education in China moved instantly online, three new virtual studios of Xi’an Jiaotong- Liverpool University discovered a new intimacy of learning space, and began to experiment afresh in how to draw, think, and model online. This exhibition presents for the first time three post-covid-19 ‘virtual studios’— ‘Caravanserai’, ‘Jiangnan Park: a Green Heart for the Yangtze River Delta megacity region’, and ‘ZeroBurial’. In a digital environment the art of drawing can find new expression. As a survey of post-covid-19 virtual studio design education, this exhibition celebrates new methods and techniques of hybrid analogue/digital drawing, animation, and modelling, combing the traditional with the digital.
