π A new year begins, a new journey starts!
MAMELO HARA was born from a deep commitment to protect and restore marine ecosystems, particularly coral reefs in Southwest Madagascar. It is a community-based, youth-led association that brings together young people passionate about coral reefs and their biodiversity.
What inspired us to engage in climate action and create our organisation was witnessing firsthand how climate change and destructive practices were threatening coral reefs ecosystems that coastal communities depend on for food, livelihoods, and cultural identity. Observing this decline compelled us to act and commit to protecting marine biodiversity.
By placing local communities and young people at the heart of our initiatives, we believe that healthy reefs are the foundation of resilient livelihoods and a sustainable future.
