📚 Žurnāls Letonica saglabā Q1 statusu "Scopus" datubāzē

Priecājamies vēstīt, ka LU Literatūras, folkloras un mākslas institūts (LU LFMI) izdotais zinātniskais žurnāls “Letonica” arī 2025. gada rādītājos saglabā augsto Q1 kvartiles statusu starptautiskās citējamības datu bāzes “Scopus” jaunākajā reitingā.

Īpaši nozīmīgi, ka kategorijā "Literature and Literary Theory" žurnāls ierindojas 93. procentilē ar rangu 73/1186, apliecinot žurnāla "Letonica" starptautisko redzamību un nozīmi literatūrzinātnes laukā. 🏆 "Letonica" ir novērtēta ar Q1 statusu arī kategorijās "Visual Arts and Performing Arts", "History" un "Music", savukārt kategorijā "Cultural Studies" žurnāls atrodas Q2 līmenī.

Žurnāla pozīcijas Q1 un Q2 kvartilē apliecina, ka publicēto oriģinālo zinātnisko rakstu citēšanas indekss sasniedz vismaz 50% no nozares vidējā citēšanas indeksa, savukārt procentiles rāda, cik augstu žurnāls atrodas salīdzinājumā ar citiem žurnāliem tajā pašā "Scopus" kategorijā. Piemēram, ja "Letonica" kategorijā "Literature and Literary Theory" ir 93. procentilē, tas nozīmē, ka žurnāls pēc attiecīgā rādītāja ir augstāk nekā apmēram 93% šīs kategorijas žurnālu.

“Letonica” ir starpdisciplinārs zinātnisks žurnāls, kas iznāk kopš 1998. gada. Žurnālā tiek publicēti raksti humanitārajās un sociālajās zinātnēs, kuri ir oriģināli, iepriekš nepublicēti pētījumi un kuru pamatā ir zinātnisks izpētes darbs. Visi žurnālā publicētie raksti tiek anonīmi recenzēti. Žurnāls ir indeksēts “Scopus”, ERIH PLUS un EBSCO datubāzēs.

Katru gadu klajā nāk četri žurnāla numuri, to vidū trīs tematiskie numuri. 📚 Journal "Letonica" Retains Q1 Status in the Scopus Database

We are pleased to announce that “Letonica”, the scholarly journal published by the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art (UL ILFA), has retained its prestigious Q1 quartile status in the latest ranking of the international citation database Scopus for the 2025 reporting year.

Particularly noteworthy is the journal’s position in the "Literature and Literary Theory" category, where it ranks in the 93rd percentile with a position of 73/1186, demonstrating Letonica’s international visibility and significance in the field of literary studies. 🏆 Letonica has also been awarded Q1 status in the categories "Visual Arts and Performing Arts", "History", and "Music", while it is ranked in the Q2 quartile in "Cultural Studies".

The journal’s placement in the Q1 and Q2 quartiles indicates that the citation index of its published original research articles reaches at least 50% of the average citation index within the respective field. Percentiles, in turn, show how highly a journal ranks in comparison with other journals in the same Scopus category. For example, Letonica’s position in the 93rd percentile in "Literature and Literary Theory" means that the journal ranks higher than approximately 93% of journals in that category.

Letonica is an interdisciplinary scholarly journal that has been published since 1998. It features original, previously unpublished research articles in the humanities and social sciences based on rigorous academic research. All articles undergo anonymous peer review. The journal is indexed in Scopus, ERIH PLUS, and EBSCO databases.

Four issues of the journal are published each year, including three thematic issues. Contributors include researchers and doctoral students from Latvia and abroad, reflecting mutual interest and collaboration in research and academic projects at both individual and institutional levels. Publication of the journal is supported by the University of Latvia and the State Culture Capital Foundation of Latvia.

Issues of Letonica can be purchased from the UL ILFA publishing house at Mūkusalas Street 3 in Riga and at the National Library of Latvia’s Friends’ Space. The journal is also available online in open access. 🌐📖

Šonedēļ ieskatīsimies Lietuviešu literatūras un folkloras institūta (Lietuvių literatūros ir tautosakos institutas) literatūras pētnieces Birutes Avižinienes rakstā “Aspazijas vēsturiskās drāmas “Vaidelote” lietuviešu konteksti”, kas publicēts žurnāla 60. numurā.

Aspazijas vēsturiskā drāma “Vaidelote” (1894), kas balstīta Lietuvas senvēstures notikumos, tika pārtulkota lietuviski 1908. gadā, un to vairākkārt iestudēja Rīgā un Jelgavā dzīvojošo diasporas lietuviešu amatierteātri. Šī pētījuma mērķis ir izzināt, kā šo lugu uztvēra lietuviešu auditorija. “Vaidelotes” tulkojums un iestudējumi sniedz iespēju izvērtēt lietuviešu dramaturģijas tradīciju saistībā ar Aspazijas neoromantisma lugas izpratni, kā arī tās iespējamo ietekmi uz tālaika lietuviešu vēsturiskās drāmas žanra attīstību.

Pētījumā izmantotā metodoloģija ietver gaidu horizonta jēdzienu, kas aizgūts no literārās hermeneitikas, kā arī Sūzanas Benetas izstrādāto teātra komunikācijas modeli, kur skatītāja aktīvā reakcija pielāgota teatrālajai situācijai. Šīs teorētiskās metodes tiek apspriestas raksta pirmajā daļā. Otrajā daļā aplūkots agrīnā lietuviešu teātra un dramaturģijas stāvoklis 19. gs. beigās un 20. gs. sākumā. Raksta trešā daļa ir veltīta Aspazijas drāmas “Vaidelote” lietuviešu tulkojumam un recepcijai. Visbeidzot tiek secināts, ka šī Aspazijas luga uz lietuviešu teātra skatuvēm nonāca vienkāršotā veidā, pielāgota tālaika amatierteātra iespējām. Tādēļ tās iespaids uz lietuviešu vēsturisko dramaturģiju bija neliels.

This week, we will take a look at the article “Lithuanian Contexts
of Aspazija’s Historical Drama “Vaidelote““ by Birutė Avižinienė, a literary scholar at the Lithuanian Institute of Literature and Folklore (Lietuvių literatūros ir tautosakos institutas), published in the 60th issue of the journal.

Aspazija’s historical drama “Vaidelote” (Pagan Priestess; 1894), based on Lithuania’s early history, was translated into Lithuanian in 1908 and staged several times by diaspora Lithuanian theatre amateurs in Riga and Mitau (now Jelgava). This paper aims to determine how the Lithuanian audience perceived it. The translation and staging of “Vaidelote” is a good opportunity to consider the tradition of Lithuanian dramaturgy in the context of evaluating this Neo-romanticist drama by Aspazija, and the influence it may have had on the Lithuanian historical drama of the time.

The methodological approaches used here include the notion of the horizon of expectation, which comes from literary hermeneutics, and the model of theatrical communication by Susan Bennett, who has adapted the active reader response to the theatrical situation. These theoretical tools are discussed in the first part of the paper. The second part presents the situation of early Lithuanian theatre and its dramaturgy at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The third part is devoted to the translation of Aspazija’s drama “Vaidelote” and its reception by Lithuanian audience. This paper concludes that Aspazija’s drama entered the Lithuanian theatre scene after having been simplified and adapted to the limited possibilities of the amateur theatre of that time. Therefore, its influence on Lithuanian historical dramaturgy was limited.

Šonedēļ pievērsīsimies žurnāla 57. numurā publicētajam rakstam “Izsekojot folkloras kustības ietekmei uz Lietuvas nacionālās neatkarības kustību”, kura autore ir Viļņas Universitātes (Vilniaus universitetas / Vilnius University) Starptautisko attiecību un politikas zinātnes institūta (VU TSPMI) profesore Aine Ramonaite.

Rakstā tiek pētītas saiknes starp Lietuvas folkloras atdzimšanas kustību, kas aizsākās 20. gs. 60. gados, un Lietuvas nacionālās neatkarības kustību 20. gs. 80. gadu beigās. Izmantojot resursu mobilizācijas teoriju, rakstā identificētas konkrētas saiknes un resursi, kas savienoja šīs divas kustības, nepaļaujoties uz psiholoģiskām vai abstraktām simboliskām saiknēm. Pamatojoties vairāk nekā 100 mutvārdu vēstures intervijās, ko veikusi autore un viņas kolēģi, rakstā rekonstruēta Lietuvas folkloras kustības vēsture un identificēti konkrēti empīriski mehānismi, ar kuru palīdzību tā ietekmēja nacionālo neatkarības kustību.

Pirmkārt, rakstā uzsvērta folkloras loma vides un mantojuma aizsardzības kustību tapšanā. Otrkārt, uzsvērta folkloras festivāla “Skamba skamba kankliai” nozīme Lietuvas reformu kustības Sajūža izveidē 1988. gada jūnijā. Treškārt, rakstā iztirzāta etniskās kultūras kustības līderu iesaistīšanās Sajūdī. Visbeidzot, tajā apspriesta folkloras ansambļu loma masu mītiņos no 1988. līdz 1991. gadam.

This week we will focus on the article “Tracing the Influence of the Folklore Revival on Lithuania’s National Independence Movement,” published in issue No. 57 of the journal, written by Ainė Ramonaitė, a professor at the Institute of International Relations and Political Science (VU TSPMI) of Vilnius University (Vilniaus universitetas / Vilnius University).

The article explores the connections between the Lithuanian folklore revival movement, which emerged in the 1960s, and the Lithuanian national independence movement of the late 1980s. Using resource mobilization theory, it seeks to identify tangible links and resources that connected these two movements, rather than focusing on psychological or abstract symbolic ties. Based on over 100 oral history interviews conducted by the author and colleagues, the article reconstructs the history of the folklore revival in Lithuania and identifies specific empirical mechanisms through which it influenced the national independence movement.

First, it highlights the role of folklore in the rise of environmental and heritage protection movements. Second, it underscores the importance of the folklore festival “Skamba skamba kankliai” in the establishment of the Lithuanian Reform Movement Sąjūdis in June 1988. Third, it examines the involvement of leaders from the ethnocultural movement in Sąjūdis. Lastly, it discusses the role of folklore ensembles in mass rallies from 1988 to 1991.
